Salient Features of the School

Essentially intended to foster the study of Sanskrit, the mother of languages, the Oriental Schools try to preserve the Cultural and literary values which Sanskrit offers. Students have to study Sanskrit along with Tamil and English. The School provides special facilities to those possessing an aptitude for learning Sanskrit in an intensified manner along with the study of English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography. By the time a student completes his secondary stage, the Oriental School equips him with a basic knowledge of all Sastras, Tarka, Vyakarna. The School imparts Sanskrit Education to students from Stds.VI to XII. In addition to General Education, students are offered religious education, the study of Vedas, Divya Prabandha and Stotras. Many economically backward and meritorious students are awarded Scholarships. Boys wear dhotis and shirts as uniform to maintain the traditional culture. Girls wear half sarees as uniform. Students participate in various competitions on religious, moral and spiritual themes and come out successful in the Competitions in all languages – Sanskrit, Tamil and English.

Students belonging to other religions also study Sanskrit and learn Prabandhas and Stotras. Indian Music is taught to all the children compulsorily and they appear for Government Technical Examinations in Music. Yajur,Rig and Sama Veda classes are conducted in the early hours of the mornings as well as in the evenings, before and after School Hours.
